3. Healthcare Delivery Strategies
a. Relate knowledge of the healthcare delivery system, including trends, innovations and health informatics.

The final paper for Introduction to Health Informatics looks at trends and data to find new innovative ideas to combat Covid-19.  The paper summarized a compilation of research information collected and converted it into knowledge.  This process is called informatics. Leaders use informatics to make innovations by tracking trends which increases healthcare delivery.  Covid-19 was a stepping stone in how healthcare organizations approach future delivery through the aid of technology. Leaders in the health care industry have a large variety of tools to aid them in converting data into knowledge thus creating a strong foundation of informatics.

The “Health Informatics’ Exchange” project showcased how the healthcare delivery system has embraced technology by having patients’ records sharable amongst Nebraska organizations. Electronic health information gives healthcare organizations available resources to help standardize accessing patients’ charts in multiple locations and at the same time. This was not possible with paper charting. Through interoperability, Health Information Exchange (HIE) allows healthcare facilities to provide safe, efficient, and accurate care without solely relying on the patient’s ability to communicate their health history. As with any online technology comes barriers, however, informatics helps prevent vulnerabilities, threats, and breaches. As a leader, utilizing the HIE sets my team up for safety and success in provider quality care.
