4. Patient Centered Care
a. Illustrate the importance of patient centered care through the development of interprofessional teams, improvement of clinical education and the employment of evidence-based practice to continually improve operations and the quality of care delivered.

During Design of Quality Improvement Initiatives, the scheduling of MRI patients who had Implanted Devices was also improved by creating a written form. Implementing this form for patients with implanted devices increased the number of patients scanned by reducing the need for rescheduling due to lack of proper information on scan day which was previously an issue. We saw upward changes in revenue as the form improved the process and outcome for patients.  The new form also provided increased patient satisfaction due to reducing the need for rescheduling.  A specialized educational binder about implanted devices also coincided with this project which listed everything a technologist needs to help scan a patient safely. The combination of the educational binder and the form helps increase the safety for a patient that needs an MRI, reduces scan delays, increases workflow efficiencies between interprofessional teams, and takes the guess work out of it for both the scheduling department and the technologists. As a leader, with these additional resources I had confidence that all of the teams involved could provide exceptional patient care.

A great leader contributes skills and resources that motivate, support, and empower interprofessional teams to work at their highest potential to benefit patients, colleagues, and the organization. The “Special Topics in Healthcare Final Presentation” gave me the opportunity to work with the CT staff, the Radiologist, and the Director of the Radiology Department. Through collaboration, we updated the CT Protocol Book and created it in a digital format. Sharing the online CT Book creates a continuous improvement operation in delivering care and consistent clinical education. After updating this book, I realized technology and procedures are constantly advancing.
